About UNESCO
The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was established in 1945. It is one of the United Nations’ specialized organizations whose principal mission is to advance world peace via global cooperation in science, culture, and education. The need for such an organization was expressed in the Moscow Declaration of 1943; China, USSR, USA, and UK were a part of this Declaration. UNESCO’s Constitution entered into force in 1946. As of April 2020, it has 194 Members and 11 Associate Members. At UNESCO’s General Conference, at its 41st session, elected Ms. Audrey Azoulay to a second term as Director-General. UNESCO funds numerous programmes in teaching education, science, media and press freedom promotion, translation of world literature, and human rights.

OUR VISION:
The Auchi Polytechnic UNESCO – UNEVOC Centre acts as part of UNESCO – UNEVOC International Centre mandated to promote peace, justice, equity, poverty alleviation, and greater social cohesion. The Centre helps to develop policies and practices concerning education for the world of work and skills development for employability and citizenship, to achieve:
- access for all;
- high quality, relevant and effective programmes; and
- learning opportunities throughout life.
The Auchi Polytechnic UNESCO – UNEVOC Centre assists the UNESCO – UNEVOC International Centre as part of the world-wide UNEVOC Network (Flagship Programme), in:

What is TVET?
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) connects education and the world of work. TVET aims to address economic, social and environmental demands by helping youth and adults develop the skills they need for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship.
What does UNEVOC stand for?
The acronym UNEVOC is a combination of ‘UNESCO’ and ‘vocational education’. It was first used in 1992 in an agreement between UNESCO and the Government of Germany on the former “International Project on Technical and Vocational Education”.
Can I study at UNESCO – UNEVOC?
No. UNESCO – UNEVOC is not a provider of technical and vocational education and training services.
How is UNESCO-UNEVOC funded?
UNESCO-UNEVOC international receives the majority of its funding from the host government of Germany, as well as a regular budget from UNESCO. For a recent financial overview, access the UNESCO international biennial report.
In Nigeria, the funding for UNESCO – UNEVOC projects are from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Labour and Productivity are responsible for financing the formal and non-formal TVET. The Federal Government also allocates the budget for the TVET system. Additional resources are mobilized through the National Board for Technical Education and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND).

How do I know if a certificate issued by UNESCO – UNEVOC is real?
UNESCO-UNEVOC does not issue any academic certificates using the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre’s logo and an imitated stamp. When in doubt about the authenticity of a certificate carrying our name or logo, please contact us.
